Autograph musical quotation, signed, of a three-bar phrase ("Depuis un an je fu ta femme et j'entends rester à toi pour toujours") comprising music from the fourth act of his opera Sapho, written in brown ink on hand-drawn staves, signed and dated (the original text reads "depuis un an, auprès de cette femme j'avillissais mon âme, grisé par le mensonge, et lui donnant mon coeur"). Sapho had been first performed 27th November the previous year. |
