Description |
Mounted and framed (black with gilt motifs). The Russian concert depicts a comfortable interior with furniture, heavy drapery, oriental rug and incense burner: a woman standing between two men is listening to two musicians (one of Eastern origin) sitting on the right and playing a zither and a five-stringed balalaika. Etching finished with some engraving. Etching by Gaillard after the painting by Jean Baptiste le Prince (1734-1781). Advertised for sale in the "Gazette de France" of 28 October 1768. |
