Description |
Polished mottled calf, gilt. Decorative title-page engraved by J.M. Moreau. Includes airs by La Garde, Mondonville and Laujon. The poet and song-writer Pierre Laujon was for some time in the service of the Duc de Bourbon at Chantilly, where he was in charge of all the entertainments: he made his living by organising diversions and spectacles for the nobility, and writing light verse for ceremonial occasions. His ballets, operas, and pastorals gained him a modest reputation and belated admission to the French Academy. |
