| Description |
Single sheet, previously folded where enveloped, and with staple/pin mark at upper inner corner. Thomas authorizes Mr Robin to copy the orchestral parts of the opera Le roman d’Elvire for Mr Delestacy of the Grand Theatre in Lyon. The opera, with text by Dumas, was premièred at the Opéra-Comique on 4 February 1860. It was a complete fiasco. Less than three weeks later Thomas was preparing for the production in Lyon, which may have faired better seeing that the publishers saw fit to print the score in the same year. |
