| Description |
Sewn in plain blue stiff paper covers with beige paper backstrips (mostly worn and revealing the stitching). Manuscript score in brown ink on twenty-stave paper. With some traces of performance use with indications of cuts (particularly a large section in Act 3). Libretto by Francesco Maria Piave (1810-1876), first performed at the Teatro San Benedetto in Venice, 28 February, 1850. The work was first published as "melodramma fantastico-giocoso" in vocal score. The New Grove entry references only the autograph manuscript score, held in the Ricordi Archives. This copy, when compared with the published vocal score of the first edition, lacks act four comprising three numbers: no.28 Scena dei Lumicini, no.29 Duetto del Testamento and no.30 Scena e Cabaletta Finale. |
