Description |
Polished red calf, gilt (rubbed, front cover detached, foot of backstrip frayed). In a presentation binding with label dated "presented to Ralph Creyke on the occasion of his marriage by the Members of the Goole Choral and Orchestral Union, Dec. 28th 1882". NG2 gives the date as 1883 and according to Fuld the British Library copy was not deposited until July 1883 but we estimate the first edition to be earlier in date. Bound with first/very early English editions of The Pirates of Penzance (1880?) and Patience (1881). |
