Description |
Original mottled calf (edges rubbed, some scratches), tooled, backstrips renewed. Vol.I with a note from the author (in the hand of his son Charles Burney (1757-1817)) tipped in at the front. The note (dated 8 January 1813) instructs the auctioneers Leigh & Sotheby to purchase some items for him in "Pinkerton's sale" [John Pinkerton, "A catalogue of a valuable and curious collection of books", January 1813]. |
