Description Publisher's printed paperback. Facsimile publication of Handel's will in Gerald Coke Handel Collection with documents from the National Archives and Royal College of Music. Includes: Handel and his will by Ellen T. Harris, Handel's German relatives by Klaus-Peter Koch, An exceptional estate by Richard Crewdson, Translations of French texts by Terence Best and Transcription of German text by Klaus-Peter Koch. Full colour facsimiles of the two surviving copies of Handel’s will and its four codicils, written between 1750 and 1759, are reproduced here for the first time. The essays outline the history of the documents, held at The National Archives and at the Gerald Coke Handel Collection in the Foundling Museum, and place them in the context of wills of other musicians of the period. Ellen T. Harris traces the many bequests and beneficiaries of the will and Klaus-Peter Koch outlines the complicated relationships within Handel’s extended German family. Facsimile copies of the probate documents and associated correspondence held at the Royal College of Music are also included in the volume.
